Review: Easy replacement of an existing Door closure - After 30 years, my existing Norton 1600 door closure failed. I was informed if I wanted some one to come and install it, the minimum charge would be $400 for the install and the cost of the product. I looked at it and knew I know how to use a torque wrench and screw drivers and proceeded to installs it myself. Easy to adjust the sweep and closure.. Product works great.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have a very low ceiling with only a 1.5" clearance/top casing to attach it to. What is the clearance of this unit at the top?**
A: You can pull up the spec dimensions on a website to get the size of the mounting piece for over the door.   But if you have solid backing over the door, I would say you could make it work because the height of the mounting piece is less than 1.5 inch if I recall. I have hung 3 and they worked out well for me.

**Q: Does this come with the soffit plate for mounting to the bottom of the jam, or just the arm shoe bracket?**
A: It also comes with the Parallel arm Bracket.

**Q: Can I get this with a black finish?**
A: We only carry the 689 & 690 finish.

**Q: Does this have a back check?**
A: No, this is a non-hold-open closer.  The closer with backcheck would have an H suffix.

Ordered from Amazon, came in a Norton box. The main piece has flecks of the bronze paint off or peeling and there is a big gouge in one area. I bought as new, but this sure doesn't look new. But I need it and have someone coming to install it, so guess next time I'll go to Menards or Home Depot.
