## Overview

FlorinVolcanīt Rio Escuro-F is a premium 15lb volcanic ash substrate designed to enhance freshwater planted and shrimp aquariums by promoting healthy root growth, lowering general hardness and pH to ideal slightly acidic levels, and providing a durable, mineral-balanced environment that supports long-term aquatic health.

## Description

Brightwell Aquatics FlorinVolcanīt Rio Escuro-F is a premium natural volcanic ash substrate designed to support freshwater aquatic plants, freshwater fish, and motile invertebrates like shrimp. Ideal for aquariums with slightly-acidic, low-GH water, it helps create an environment similar to rainforest streams and rivers. Its oblong, durable beads promote strong root growth by improving water flow and oxygenation within the substrate. This enhances nutrient uptake, ensuring healthy plant development. FlorinVolcanīt Rio Escuro-F gradually lowers general hardness (GH) and stabilizes pH levels below 7, creating optimal conditions for species that thrive in softer, acidic waters. Its semi-open structure supports water diffusion, allowing liquid supplements to reach plant roots effectively. This substrate is perfect for shrimp biotopes, fostering natural habitats while supporting plant and fish health. Compatible with various freshwater setups, FlorinVolcanīt Rio Escuro-F is a reliable choice for long-term aquarium health.

Review: Caridina must have. - This is expensive, but well worth the cost, it lowed my PH to 6 in no time(with ro water that was remineralized) and my shrimp are thriving in it like no other substrate has been able to let them. one of the best substrates for raising caridina shrimp, no ands buts or ifs.
Review: Best caradina aquasoil - I love this soil for my caradina shrimp tanks. Holds low ph, no leaching ammonia and last a decent time!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brightwell Aquatics Rio Escuro-F: A Shrimp Keeper's Secret Weapon
*by H***S on March 13, 2024*

Rio Escuro-F excels at maintaining a stable, acidic environment ideal for Caridina shrimp. It naturally buffers the water column, keeping the pH in the sweet spot of 5.5 to 6.0. This eliminates the constant need for harsh chemical adjustments and creates a more stable environment for my shrimp to thrive. While the primary focus is on its buffering abilities, Rio Escuro-F also provides a surprisingly good base for plants. The fine grain size allows for easy root growth, and the substrate itself holds onto nutrients without releasing them excessively. This creates a healthy environment for both Caridina shrimp and the plants that share their habitat.
