Review: Great quality shielded cable. - I bought 30 metres of this 3 Core 6 mm (SWA) Steel Wire Armoured Cable so I could have power in my shed at the bottom of my garden. I buried it in a thigh-deep trench and laid yellow warning tape above it, available from the same retailer. The cable came tightly coiled and was easy to uncoil and handle on my own. Judging by some of the comments / questions, people seem to be unsure of the external diameter of the cable, which is important when buying wall clips (see photo), and glands for connections at either end of the cable. Well I've just measured the external diameter of this 6mm cable with a digital calliper and it is 14.5mm. In conclusion, this is great quality cable and I'd buy it again.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What size cable glands do you need?**
A: With SWA cable you will need either BW type(for indoor) or CW type(for outside-ip66 rating) glands, recently fitted a 25m run to garage in 6mm 3 core SWA cable o/d 17mm approx) with which i used CW20s (damp garage/cellar) a little bit fiddlier than BW, but worth the extra protection.
I found it quite tight. 10mm 3core SWA has an o/d of 19mm approx, best advise is to order a pair of both 20mm and 25mm, at the price you can get them for on Amazon, then you decide which is is easier for you.
Don't forget to fit everything onto the cable (shroud, nut, ring, etc) before fitting cables through gland body.

**Q: what is the overall diameter please? thanks**
A: The dia of the cable is 15.5mm

**Q: can this be chewed through**
A: I’m sure a rat could chew through it but ours is buried underground

**Q: Is this cable suitable for driving on overground**
A: No cable is designed for driving over.
