Went over my butt while wearing jeans just fine, but the legs were a bit too long. The Velcro ankle straps didn't go around very far so that wasn't much help, but with boots on it wasn't too much of a problem. I wore them while spending a day snowshoeing, trail hiking, skating, and cross-country skiing. Sitting in a pile of snow one time to wait for the family to catch up to me is the only real test I gave the pants but my jeans were perfectly dry at the end of the day..
