It is a very durable plastic material but sort of rubbery-ish. This is perfect for young children who may teeth on the pieces. The egg is just plastic and so are the drumsticks and the tumble bee Maraca. **Q: Why is there a hole in the bottom of bee maraca? Am I missing something?** A: This was a gift years ago. It does effect how it’s used.
