Good result, -both thermometers read roughly the same, and the 'classic' thermometer was actually quite fast, reaching maximum temperature in considerably less than a minute. I guess my 'normal' temperature must be slightly low.Needs a bit of shaking to get the liquid back down, but the trick seems to be to let the thermometer cool for a minute or two before trying so there's space! The holder does help, making accidentally letting go less likely. On the evidence so far, I can thoroughly recommend. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great old fashioned, no battery or frills, thermometer. Now it's about £30 for a thermometer, I believe they take normal batteries but from the reviews they aren't always accurate. I wanted a no frills, no battery, old fashioned simple to use thermometer. And now I've got it. Ace. Tried it and it works, reading is what I would expect. From the product reviews I knew I had to shake down the thermometer, and you do have to give it a bit of welly but it is quite simple.
