Review: Great Trailer for a Great Price - We purchased our InStep Quick N EZ Bicyle Trailer (orange) for two reason: to get our 19 month old daughter out bicyling and also as a cargo trailer for weekend bike tours. Assembly was quick and easy. It basically comes in the form you break it back down to in order to travel: probably no more than 5 inches thick. The wheels snap easily into place and the upper roll bar pulls up and snaps into place. You snap the top on and velcro the bottom edges down. That was quick and easy. The hitch folds under the body for travel and swings out for use. The most challenging part of the set up is the bike connector. I use a road bike so I had to take out my rear skewer, add the connector and reassemble. That being done the trailer connects to bike fitting with a cotter pin and that's it. 3 of my boys joined me with our daughter for a 10 mile bike trail ride at a local college. We squeezed 5 bikes and the trailer into our Suburban with the rear seat down. We had bought a toddler bike helmet, that Erin did not take to very well. I strapped her in the trailer in the middle position. She looked a little concerned so I made some faces at her until she smiled. We put on the helmet, but it pushed forward over her face when she leaned back because it hit the seat back so we just took it off. I was concerned about pulling a trailer behind my road bike, but it is a good clean connection and pull. We had a very fun ride together our first time out. Erin fell asleep for part of it of course. We got a lot of smiles as we rode by. I have a tour planned for sometime in July with one of my boys. We'll pack it with a tent and supplies for three days riding and two nights camping. Car seats are designed to be used in a CAR! The bike trailer is not as stable as the back seat of your car and hence the ride for the infant will be much more bumpy. The infant does not have the neck strength to withstand a pothole or big bump. And while you might think you will be careful not to ride over any potholes, etc. the risk is too great! You'll need to be watching traffic, and things like the the trailer's clearance when riding along a street with parked cars or pedestrians on a boardwalk. With that many things to keep in mind you are taking an unnecessary chance with your child's health and well being. And finally, the manufacturer says this trailer is NOT for children under 12 months old, AND in addition to being 12 months old, they need to be able to hold their own head up, and sit up on their own. Please do not take the risk. **Q: Do kids need to wear helmets while in the trailer?** A: I have this trailer and was riding with a 3 yr old and 15 month old. I had an accident and did a "superman" over the front of my bike, flipping my bike, going about 15 mph. They wore no helmets. The trailer tipped to one side. While both were scared, neither one was hurt. If I were on a busier road, I would helmet them but the trailer makes it hard for the seat to be comfortable because it pushes their head forward where the helmet rests against the back of the seat. Use best judgement- the "cage" is metal and can endure some damage but then again, little brains don't like to be shaken. **Q: Is the tire air tires? If yes are they all air tires?** A: The two tires on the side of the trailer are are tires, the tire that you install to use as a stroller is plastic and not air filled. **Q: Does the trailer stay upright if the bike falls over?** A: Fortunately we haven't tested, but based on the design and the spring type of a setup where it attaches to the bike, I'm pretty certain the trailer would stay upright. I highly recommend it. *by B***D on March 28, 2016* Excellent. Very east to assemble. Folds to fits in the trunk of a small car. Baby/Toddler seems very happy and comfortable riding in it. I highly recommend this product. There were some problems with the delivery of this product. It did not arrive as schedule. When it arrived the box was badly damaged as though it was tossed out of an airplane then tossed down 1000 flight of stairs. So think about that if you are purchasing it as a gift for someone. But the packaging of the product was sell secure. The item was hardly damaged. One piece was dent. I took it to the local bike store to repair. It cost about $10. to repair it. However, Amazon said they will reimburse me for the cost. I didn't bother with the paper work. But it was nice of them to offer to reimburse the cost for the repair. It's good business practice. PS. I only utilized it with one child weighing less than 30 lbs. And because my baby is so young I only ride with her in the park or along the paved road near the river. Basically the ground surface is very smooth. So I do not know how comfortable baby would be riding inside of it on the street dealing with gravel, pot holes, etc. I assume baby will be safe because I am sure they tested the product out on different types of pavements but I only experienced using it on a smooth pavement. The only thing that might be a problem is the storage space. It is very small and can not hold a lot of weight. for example I think it can only hold a diaper bag. But I do not think you can go grocery shopping or run similar errands and store groceries etc in the storage area. The storage area can possibly hold 1 or 2 diaper bag, cell phone and glasses. Overall, this product is awesome. A great investment. I am able to get in shape while baby is happy enjoying nature and views of city life. Great purchase. I highly recommend it.
