The handle cannot be permanently attached to the machine without drilling a hole of some sort into the shaft, which I am not equipped to do. So, whatever you do, don't lift it by the handle. I know this. Yet still, I keep grabbing it by the handle and pulling the handle off. Today I grabbed it by the handle and managed to lift it a couple of fit into the air before the press dropped free from the handle and smashed my toe. Did I mention that it is very heavy? Much profanity ensued. I would suggest using boards on top of & beneath the booklet since the metal surface isn't completely smooth and could mar the paper. **Q: The description doesn't say anything about being a book press. Can this also be used for books? If so how thick can they be?** A: This paper press machine is used to flatten the file, it can not be used to bind the book.
