Love it so far. Have already made Circle 1 and have started on a second. Though the book recommends hand sewing -- and I did hand stitch the first block-- a few of the patterns, like the one I am working on next, can at least be partially worked up with machine piecing. I have loads of quilt books and wasn't looking to add any more to my collection, but I talked myself into this one because each of the circles represented a technique or pattern I'd long been wanting to make or tackle and The Circle Game offered a disciplined approach for doing so (plus a way to use up fabric scraps!). If you are a beginning quilter, this book might be a little over your head. Besides going for more traditional quilt blocks to help you learn skills I would recommend Tula Pink's 100 City Blocks instead of trying The Circle Game. If you are a quilter experienced with making accurate templates and doing hand piecing and are looking for a challenge that includes and some whimsical, pretty blocks, you may enjoy The Circle Game. The print in the book I received is very good. The instructions are minimal (which is also where experience kicks in) . When I was sewing on the second surround I discovered the pattern in the book was 1/8" too small, so the book isn't error free. I used thin packaging plastic and plastic cutting mats from a dollar store, both of which are easy to mark and cut with scissors, to make inexpensive templates. After I finish the circles as full-sized I'm hoping to make some of them again in smaller form, either by reprinting them in reduced size or re-working out the patterns in smaller version by hand. The Circle Game would be a worthwhile project to work on as a block of the week/month challenge with a group of fellow quilters. (I'm going to finish mine with a different border.)
