They are plastic and they do look like plastic close up but from far they look nice. A friend of mine recommended these as she has them on her vehicle and says she takes her Jeep through the car wash with no problem. When I put these on it didn't seem like they adhered as well as the hinge covers I had bought. When I tried to adhere them they seemed like they popped up a little bit and didn't sit flush, so I pressed them down numerous times. A few days later I took it through the car wash and the blower at the end that blows the water off your vehicle took the hood hinge cover, blew it right off the hood and off the vehicle.
