They wanted pickups that captured the best elements of their favorite Broadcaster and Telecaster sounds - and then some. The Twang King pickups have unequalled response to pick attack: light playing produces a soft, quiet tone and hard picking creates a harder, louder, and more dynamic sound than any comparable single-coil. DiMarzio accomplished this with a combination of controlled-tension coil-winding, special wire, and hand-calibrated magnets. I bought them and the obsidian solderless kit with a 4 way switch and did the whole upgrade all at once. It gives a lot of great options to this guitar and everything sounds amazing. Slider pick ups are one of the best traditional Fender pick ups , I believe that anyway. The Chopper T /as it was told by others and Mr Richie Kotzen as well / has a thicker and deeper sound than the original Slider or the factory made Fender had. The Chopper T has a medium humbucker output still with plenty of clarity and the extra option to switch between single coil and humbucker. Probably not the choice of country players but I'm a big fan of Richie Kotzen so it works for me if I try to play rock. Being a bedroom guitarist where I have to keep the volume reasonably down I use an OMG drive and Sansamp GT2 plus the Chopper T.
