The predators are packaged in a loose carrier material for instant release onto infestations. I also had a big problem with spider mites because of the hot dry weather over summer. But I got predators to tackle those as well. Very happy with the results, the predators are effective and in future, I will buy earlier in the growing season to pre-empt the pests.
