No Faff or Double-Checking from the PC. - Bought this because my Windows 10 laptop was refusing to acknowledge the microphone on an old headset I like with separate ear and mic cables, even going through a new style adaptor. With this in the USB port, the laptop just accepts that there's a headphones + microphone headset connected, even if they're not actually plugged in to the jacks on this adaptor at the time. A lot less hassle than the laptop trying to detect what's on the headset socket and getting it wrong!

Bought this because my Windows 10 laptop was refusing to acknowledge the microphone on an old headset I like with separate ear and mic cables, even going through a new style adaptor. With this in the USB port, the laptop just accepts that there's a headphones + microphone headset connected, even if they're not actually plugged in to the jacks on this adaptor at the time. A lot less hassle than the laptop trying to detect what's on the headset socket and getting it wrong!

My laptop hasn't got a mic socket and the built in mic is rubbish, you have to shout at it during Zoom calls. This little module lets you use a (better) external mic. It works really well, no setting up (Win10),just plug in and use.
