How well will this tape repair this pipe?** A: So-called Repair Tape will not stick to the black iron pipe; it only sticks to itself. Consequently, it will not seal the pipe. Use J-B Weld 8277 WaterWeld Underwater Epoxy Putty or equivalent. Note the "Underwater" designation. It will set underwater, so it should seal the pipe, even if it is wet. (A dry repair is better.) **Q: Do we need to stick like sticker or we need to heat and paste in pipes?** A: It's not sticky the way you think of tape being. As you wrap it around something you need to stretch it and overlap it onto itself. It fuses together when stretched and overlapped. The more you stretch it the tighter it binds to itself. I have fixed a lot of things with this tape. The most surprising fix was on a hard line from my power steering pump to piston that made the wheels turn. Power steering fluid was under a lot of pressure and the fix sealed the crack in the pipe and lasted for several years until I sold the car. **Q: How removavble is the product? If you have to break that leaking pipe and repair it does the product come off cleanly again?** A: You know, I obviously haven't tried that...but it does appear to me that it would be very easy to remove even if you had to cut it with a razor blade. This is a good product...I used it to stop a pinhole leak in my bathroom shower pipe that was driving me nuts. It's been on it now since the date I received it and still is working like a charm--I think it's a pretty permanent fix to my problem. **Q: Will this handle a leak on a household water line? I have a small drip in a joint. Seems like this might be just the thing to fix it.** A: I think it will do the job, however, I used it in emergencies only until I can get the problem fully repaired. I have a leak in my kitchen sink on two PVC pipes. My landlord is very slow to fix things, so this was my temporary solution. (I don't want to move because my rent is exceptional and the neighborhood is great) I tried this on one side and used the whole roll to be absolutely certain that it would stay in place. Like other reviews mentioned, it is difficult for the tape to stick to anything but itself. I found that when I started wrapping the tape, I needed to hold one spot in place and then stretch the tape as far as I could and then start wrapping it around itself. Once I had the first wrap done, it was very easy for me to start building the other layers of tape around it. I ordered another roll for the other side of my sink and it has seemed to be holding up pretty well on each side. They have both been wrapped with tape for around 2 weeks. I noticed a tiny bit of leaking the first two-three days after wrapping, but now I see no leaks at all. I think over time, the tape fuses to itself more. I had to keep buckets under my sink for a long time and now I don't have to worry about them anymore.I understand that this is a temporary fix, but this was much easier (for the moment) than hassling my landlord or trying to replace the sink myself (which I really don't want to spend the money on). My advice to others would be to take your time while wrapping the tape around whatever you need to. If you have a bigger project, I would suggest buying two rolls at a time to be safe. It is only adhesive to itself. But it does adhere to itself very well.It's more like a flexible, solid epoxy in a roll.In my humble opinion, it's prohibitively and unjustifiably expensive to use where another product, like duct tape or plumbers epoxy, will work. Will not work as a flat patch - must be wrapped and stretched and overlapped to stick to itself.In many cases it effects a permanent repair - garden hose, some electrical, and some non critical plumbing repairs. A non-accidental cooling hose leak on an automotive type engine would indicate replacing the hose is due at the earliest opportunity. But can make it a non-emergency situation.I highly recommend this product. It is incredibly good at what is's supposed to do.
