A: No they don’t light up.

**Q: Packaging shows a see through groot with leaves on the inside but i received a solid brown one.  confused as to which one i should receive?**
A: I do not own this, I have a batman and a spiderman.  if you buy this, it will leak after the first day or so and the paint will smear/come off.  Do not waste your money.

Happy little birthday boy. Have to say it sat in the secret birthday present storage area for a month before we gave it to him and these always smell so weird coming out of the package but toy as described, cheaper than able to be found at Target and happy little man!
