Your Golf R should have the same Mk6 body style. One thing you can double-check is that in your front door frames there are holes for the front crossbar. The front crossbar has locator pins. The rear just clamps. No holes, and it's definitely a No. **Q: What is the spread between the bars?** A: I would say roughly 2 to 2.5ft but you can get a rough estimate by looking at the the holes or dimples at the top of the doorwells. The top of the doorwells have black caps where the racks line up with. The rear door has little dimples which is a range of where the back rack can line up with. **Q: Does the package include the 4 feet and the 2 cross bars? Which is the manufacturer of this rack: Thule?** A: This is an OEM VW part, not Thule. It includes the two cross bars and mounting equipment (feet). Although it's an easy install, I opted to take it to my local VW dealer and have it installed by them (which they'll only do with authentic VW parts). The bars have a unique elliptical shape. I needed the bars for my road bike, so I opted for a Yakima fork mount and SKS lock cores.
