They really hold the row covers tightly, and the opening really holds a large bundle of fabric. I've also used these to clip plants to support stakes to keep them from falling over. I've clipped them into my wires shelves and hung items from them, like bags of seeds and twine. I've used them to clip my gloves to my pants so I don't have to go looking for them.
