The clay treatment will not remove surface imperfections like swirl marks or small scratches but it prepares the finish for the next steps in a good paint detail job. I usually follow the clay with a polishing compound and then seal the finish with a ceramic "wax" to protect it from UV rays and the onslaught of chemical and mineral contaminats that are always present in the enviornment. Modern car finishes are very tough but if you want them to last its still important to clean and protect them every year or so. It depends on how contaminated your paint is. The more contaminated the paint, the more liquid you will need to remove the contaminats. This kit provided enough liquid to throughly clay my entire large Infiniti sedan; including windows and rims. Be sure that if you clay your rims that it is the final thing you clay as the amount of contaminants will likely render the clay bar unusable afterwards. **Q: Do I need this if I have Ibex protection ?** A: I am not sure what the ibex protection is but the Mothers kit doesn't damage any factory finish if done according to the instructions. It is designed to remove dirt, contaminates on the surface and a wax finish needs be immediately applied. You might want to check with the ibex manufacturer on using a clay bar on their product specifically though. **Q: What kind of clay bar is this? Heavy? Medium or fine?** A: It is a little courser than the popular off-brands. I personally like to use both. I can regulate the amount of aggression in the clay bar better. Is that necessary?
