I did that and kept it on my hair for about 3 hours. I have extremely stubborn grays that don't take up pigment much, but this worked so well! First 1-2 days it looked like a bright orange-red, but then the bright color faded and a deeper brown red stayed. With indigo, I think I could achieve a nice brown or black. Either way, the product works well. It does have a strong perfume smell, which I'm not sure is healthy it is for hair, but its definitely better than the natural henna smell.
