Back or side?** A: The switch is on the back, so if you hang it up you do need to take it down to turn on/off. It's not that much of a hassle though. **Q: Would it be possible to hard wire these to have on a switch as a more permanent decoration?** A: I am no electrician! This letter is battery operated.
