Review: Wow - what a tool!! - I've been after a meat cleaver for a while. Came across this one. Took a chance. Glad I did. This item came beautifully packaged. Taking this cleaver out of its packing and holding it - it exudes class. Extremely sharp and well balanced to the top of the blade to make chopping easier. But it also works very well as a knife. Slices thru' raw meat, cooked meat, cheese, tomatoes. and chops thru' various squashes without much trouble. I've given this cleaver one * in the Feature marked " Lightweight " because it certainly isn't lightweight. However, it is nicely balanced. This one is going to last me a long time. I'm a happy camper!!

If you're going to buy a cleaver then get a heavy one like this - lightweight ones bounce off tough bones and joints whereas this one keeps on going through. Use a thick heavy chopping board and keep your fingers well out of the way! The steel is a bit soft but that's OK, harder steel might well chip/shatter and it is easy to sharpen - it doesn't need to be razor sharp to do it's job. If you have ever used your best chef's knife for a bit of cleaving then don't - you'll likely damage it in the end. Buy one of these instead.
