Neither of those things are true. It is NOT a hot iron, nor is it ineffective. It's a double-sided brush TOOL with extras. ...So I have crazy curly thick hair and I went to get my hair done "professionally" for the first time in quite awhile a few months back. The stylist used this tool (which I had never seen) while straitening my hair. By the time she was done and I saw the results, I was in awe and had to have one. I did my review homework, had it ordered within a few days and now use it regularly! It is extremely useful! And my hair looks just as lovely as it did when the stylist does it (AMEN lol). ...So basically, you make sure your hair isn't tangled (you can do this section by section), section your hair (with the pointy comb and clips), put the section of hair you want to straighten between the double-sided brush and pull down with the flat iron directly behind it (pull down both at the same time). This brush flattens and spreads the hair so that the flat iron is more efficient in a timely manner. It took a little getting used to, but not difficult.... Obviously using a heat spray before will help prevent damage and a tiny bit of conditioning oil afterward will give the best end results. ...This brush won't fix all your hair problems, it's a tool; an inexpensive, amazing and time- saving tool! ... Now to address the reviews where the brush broke quickly. That hasn't been my experience so far. Maybe theirs were defective? Or jammed in a drawer? I don't know their specifics. I know I keep mine on the countertop in a glass vase where I can hang my still hot flat iron to cool. And so far it's worked beautifully. I also put my clips on an extra metal chopstick I had to keep things organized (refer to the pic). ...I didn't include a pic of before and after hair because this tool isn't responsible for all that. But it is extremely helpful. I just showed how I personally store it (on the counter because I use it so often).
