What you need for training in the dark
Lights Most of my training runs are at 5 AM so it’s important for me to have good reflective gear and lights. This headlamp is really good. For starters it’s very bright and lights up the trail extremely well. It also offers three different colors if you want to switch things up. As far as comfort is concerned, it fits very well on your head and is fairly light. It also angles downward so you can see right in front of you. This is a really good light and I’m happy with my purchase.

My favorite running/camping head lamp
I have purchased 4 of the base model Nathan Neutron head lamps over the last 4-5 years (if you count 2020 as a real year). I bought (2) black (2) and (2) white of the color options available. The black model has always been about the same price, but sometimes you'll find the white color option at almost 40% off!PROS:- compact headlamp that virtually disappears in your pocket or pack- adjustable, removable elastic headband is washable- runs on 2 x AA batteries so it's lightweight- easy to operate while running/walking- multiple brightness settings in white, LED light to adjust throw at different running speeds- adjustable vertical angle helps to light the road/trail- confident operation while running/hiking in light rain or wet conditions- Single lumens setting for RED (preserves night vision), GREEN (maps), and BLUE (party time)- Stays cool for 1.5 hour/9 mile runs (*not tested beyond this at night)CONS:- White Model has a decorative red(ish), lense over the multi-color LED lights which distorts the RED/GREEN/BLUE color and intensity. Big negative- 115 max lumens is enough light for a relaxed run pace, but the light intensity (throw) dissipates quickly at a sprint pace and/or when the angle changes on inclines on the trail. Bought it understanding it's not meant to be a true outdoors head lamp (250+ lumens)- IPX4 is questionable with no o-ring seals on battery compartment, but still locks up tightAs you can see, not many negatives for the Nathan Neutron! The Black Model is definitely the better choice overall, so you can get the benefits of the RGB. I keep my a spare Black Model in my EDC kit since it's so compact. Since the White Model was under $20 on sale, they get used the most for running, camping, and being thrown around. All 4 work just fine and none the worse for wear. Great product from a running company in a space dominated by Princeton and Petzl.

Recommended for OCR & ultra runs
I purchased this headlamp for a more challenging Spartan obstacle course race at Lake Tahoe. We were hiking/running across a steep ski resort at night and headlamps were required. This was my first time using a headlamp, but found it immediately comfortable & immensely helpful. The light help navigate me through some very technical trails in otherwise pitch darkness. The adjustable level of brightness was a valuable feature. With this headlamp, I'll feel confident signing up for endurance trail runs that go though the night. Plus it didn't skip or knock loose even while performing obstacles such as jumping over walls!

Reliable, safe and comfortable for dog owners...
I walk my lab late evenings or early mornings. I always wanted to have a reliable and comfortable flash light. I tried regular flash lights and even my iPhone flash. both lights up pretty well but forces you to keep flash light with one of your hands while walking dog. i solved my issues with this headlamp. It stays on my forehead and it lights up pretty well. also i enable red flashing led lights to be able let drivers to notice me while I am walking. and if I receive a phone call I can answer without loosing my ability to see where I am going. It comes with 2 AAA batteries which is very nice so you can start using it as soon as you receive it. Highly recommended!

I didn't buy this for running
I bought this headlamp last week as I wanted a headlamp to use for everyday activities. So far I'm impressed with this headlamp. It is lightweight, the material used on the band is soft and not annoying. It is very easy to use and I'm able to operate it without looking or really thinking about it. I was worried about this being comfortable since I have a rather large head, but this fit right out of the box without any issues and is comfortable. I wore it this last weekend while working on my car and it held up well. I'm not a runner, so I don't plan on wearing this on runs, but for everyday use this light seems like a solid option.

Not dependable
Great product when it is working properly. I used it for 1 Ragnar and it worked great. Unfortunately, the light randomly turns on when not in use. It dies quickly during runs or won’t turn on when I need it to. Perhaps I got a defective one.

Save your money and buy a better product...
I'm a longtime trailrunner and often run at night. I was impressed by how light this was but not by how light it didn't get. Very poor brightness unless you're an owl. I had to change the batteries once and felt like I was gonna break the thing. Had to use it recently only to find out that it didn't work. Tossed it in the trash. Save your money and buy something more durable and brighter. Wouldn't be the first time Nathan pushed out a product without thoroughly testing it first. Boooo!

Great headlamp!
Easy to adjust light to fit to head. This one is much lighter weight than an old headlamp I used to use!Light lasted easily for 11 mile run.You do have to press down on the buttons fairly hard to get it to turn on & change settings. I love that it also has a red light. the white and red lights have different buttons so easier to control both. The white light you click on multiple times to intensify brightness. The red turns on solid and then you can click through to change to alternating on/off.Based on some of the reviews I read, I changed out the batteries before I used for the first time. They looked like they were starting to corrode. But I didn’t buy this for the batteries so not a deal breaker for me.
