Often though,the wider shoe gaps along the instep of my foot. These 8.5 fit where I need them and do not gap at the instep. While there is not as much side support in this shoe, there is nice padding in the foot (the padding is grued in and I do wonder about keeping it clean and odor free wearing them in the summer.
