This keeps the liquid from oozing out the bottom. Then place the steel blades inside the glass jar, from the bottom, with the gray gasket in between the glass jar and the round base of the steel blades. Last comes the black plastic bottom, which screws on---it should screw on easily if placed right. Make sure it is tight.Then place the whole assembled jar onto the motor base and rotate the jar slightly, until it settles into the motor base. If done correctly, the blender will run smoothly when you push a button.Don't forget the lid! **Q: Can this be used as a whisk?
