Review: Take your Double Unders to the next level !! - Prior to getting these ropes, I had one of the Rogue SR-2 speed rope clones that you can find on desertcart for $10-20. These two actually: (purchased about 2 years apart) Jump Rope 1 , Jump Rope 2 I could string about 30-50 double unders with those but would be fairly inconsistent. The problem I found towards the end of using these ropes was that the handles would slightly vary in length depending on my wrist flick rhythm. With bad technique, the handle would retract and the rope length would effectively get shorter. I'd then get out of sync and trip on the rope. To top it off, in Open 17.5, the rope that I was using had one end break away from the rope. Enough! With these competition setup RPMs, the rope is ratcheted through the handle, then through the wheel bearing, then out the other side of the handle. With the competition rope, what you are really getting is a Session 3.0 handle that has slightly more grip (not important), but also has the bare cable (super important). The combination of the more secure holding of the rope (and no longer varying length during the workouts) and the super light cable has really upped my double under game. On my first workout using them, we had to do the following: 5 Rnds of 1:30. In each 1:30, 5 DL @ 225#, 10 Ring Dips, then as many reps as possible of double unders till the 1:30 was up. After the round, rest 3 minutes and go to the next round. I managed to get 80,81,89,82,88 for my double unders. Amazing! Would recommend, especially if you have the same issues that I was having w/ the cheaper ropes. The bare cable cable is about 1/16th of inch, the cable was picked out specifically for jumping durability.
