Q: Will this avoid running itself down stairs or do you have to use the strip to help?

It avoids running downstairs automatically. The strips are more specifically to prevent it from crossing a certain threshold - which of course *could* include not going near the stairs. In this particular model, the strips are used to set carpet\hardwood boundaries so it doesn't try to mop your carpets. :)

Q: Can it climb off and onto rugs?

For optimum performance. It is not recommended to use RoboVac on thick (total thickness over 26 mm /1.02 in) or plush carpets. Please contact our support and send us a picture so we can assist you further.

Q: In mopping mode, can it detect and avoid carpet? We have both carpet and hardwood and want to vacuum all surfaces but only mop the hardwood.

the Robovac will not able to detect the carpet, so we recommend you to put the boundary strips under the carpet to prevent it mppping the carpet.

Q: My side brush repeatedly falls off during cleanings, on the edge of my carpet or the leg of a chair, any way to encourage it to stay?!

Sorry to hear that the side brush often fell off. If it is the side brush, may I know whether you hear a clicking sound when you assemble the brushes? Would you take off the side brush and snap a new side brush tightly on the connector to see whether it falls again? If the same issue occurs, please contact eufy customer support for further help.
