I’ve been using Albolene Unscented Moisturizing Cleanser, 12 oz, 2 Pack for over thirty years to remove makeup. During that span, I’ve tried other brands, but Albolene’s no-nonsense ingredients and moisturizing abilities always brought me back. I have been using just one 12 oz. jar for over ten years, and it is still half-full and even has the old metal top instead of a newer plastic lid. If used only for make-up removal, it lasts forever.This new formula uses even less product per application, and that’s a good thing considering its tube size is only 0.85 fluid ounce. The hard part is finding the perfect pump squirt—the first few times I had enough oily liquid left over on my fingertips to clean off a few more eyelids, but now I make a conscientious effort to keep squirts to the bare minimum. As Albolene points out in accompanying literature, a little bit goes a long way, and they aren’t kidding. The downside to squirting out too much is it’s impossible to replace any excess back into its container (which can easily be done with the original formula).I think this makeup remover does indeed do a better job than the original moisturizing cleanser, but the difference is so negligible that it’s almost to the point of splitting hairs. Both products consist of mineral oil, petrolatum, and beta carotene and both are paraben, fragrance and preservative free. The original formula has the consistency of petroleum jelly, but the addition of jojoba seed oil and ozokerite gives this new formula a more liquid, slippery feel. Both effectively take off makeup, and in my case, specifically waterproof mascara.That said, this is still an excellent eye makeup remover, and if that is your only product purpose, this formula might be the ideal selection for you. It is conveniently sized and capped for travel use too. Personally, I find the original formula works just as well, lasts far longer, has more uses, and costs much less in the long run. The big jar size can be cumbersome, so I have resorted to putting a much smaller quantity into one of those little pill vials that has a screw-on lid. Just that small amount cleans off makeup for many, many months.Both products deserve five stars. The photo shows size comparison, and the convenience of repackaging the original moisturizing cleanser into a pill vial that can be purchased at any dollar store. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Product *by S***Q on April 5, 2025* Good travel size. Abilene works great for taking off makeup and is not greasy. It is absolutely amazing, and has sold me on Albolene as a company overall. Since the pandemic, I have only really been wearing eye makeup, and I feel so guilty whenever I use a full makeup remover wipe. This product gives me the best results by the least effort. I am absolutely floored by its efficacy. I had been using the regular Albolene formula, which is a little heavy when used around the eyes, but this product is so lightweight and just melts the eye makeup away.
