What bait is best to use?** A: I wouldn't say it's the trap that kills rodents, it's the bait you use to kill them. This trap just funnels the rats toward the bait while keeping other animals, like dogs, away from the poison. As for what I'd suggest, while your mileage may vary, I got rid of a rat infestation with the following bait in less than a week. JT Eaton 166004 709-PN Bait Block Rodenticide Anticoagulant Bait, Peanut Butter Flavor, for Mice and Rats (9 lb Pail of 144), Green **Q: How large is the opening?** A: Large enough for a large rat but too small for a grown cat or dog. Not good for small dogs and kittens.
