These shoes are really sharp looking and the white around the sole makes the other colors crisp - Very nice. I have regular width feet and regular arches and these fit perfectly as addidas normally do on my feet. I will say, that straight out of the box I was a little worried because the shoes are lightweight and not as chunky on the bottom as some of my other shoes which are made for running, so I immediately thought they would have no support and be uncomfortable. My worries were quickly put to rest, they are nicely comfortable. Don't expect the bounce of a running shoe because these are for hiking so they seem more stable under foot and less like walking on pillows but not flat or without arch inside. I hiked in Washington in Olympic National Park while it was raining. They are not waterproof. On the other hand, they were very comfortable and I like the tread. Worked well for hiking **Q: Does anyone with flat feet and/or low back pain have these shoes? if so, what do you think of them?** A: I have had back pain in the past but no problems with these use. I just wore them in Ireland in rain and difficult terrain and it worked out well **Q: are these waterproof at all?** A: They are not waterproof. They do have a high base (aprox 1 inch) which means that if you step in shallow puddles most likely water will not get into your shoes, but if you are walking in the rain you will eventually get wet feet. They are more resistant than the mostly mesh running tennis shoes, but only to a point. **Q: Could you run in these or would it be too heavy or uncomfortable?** A: They are not too heavy - especially for trail running.
