I’d guess it may be to do with initial calibration? **Q: Does this measure in millimetres** A: Yes it does. Best bit of kit I have brought for a long time. Only thing to check is how tall your fence is. I had to increase the height of mine to allow wood to pass underneath. Worth the money though, pin point accuracy if you calibrate it properly. **Q: is the arm spring-loaded** A: Yes.
