## Description

The U.S. Solid ½" motorized ball valve in stainless steel with automatic return is a blessing to many a home tinkerer. The body and stem on this valve are made of SS304 stainless steel. This material is safe for drinking water, which is important since water systems are one of the most common uses for motorized ball valves. The valve will actuate when 9V to 24V of AC or DC power are brought to it. In this automatic return valve, the valve is Normally Closed. When energized, it will open in 3-5 seconds. Afterwards, limit switches will keep the energy output to a negligible amount. If power gets cut out, the valve will again return to a closed position. Most solenoid valves are fully energized whilst open, which can lead to overheating. This valve takes in such little energy once fully opened, that it will NEVER overheat. Auto return valves are an important option. If being used to control your water system, it is important that it shuts off automatically in case of a power outage. Additionally, this valve comes with an IP rating of 65. This ingress protection level means the casing will keep the electronics free of any dust, and is safe even when being sprayed with water from any direction. Review: solid valve for home automation - I added this to my home automation setup and it has been running without any issues since day one. The auto return feature is clutch because if the power cuts the valve closes on its own which gives you a lot of peace of mind. It takes a couple seconds to open or close but that is totally expected and not a problem. Wiring was straightforward and it operates quietly which I really appreciate.

I needed to automate the flush valve our our sediment filter, to open for one minute once a week. Since there was a sprinkler timer nearby I needed a value that was energized to open and automatically closes when deenergized. And because of the large amount of sediment in the flush water I needed a ball valve instead of a solenoid valve. So this particular valve is perfect. I opens quickly when actuated from a standard sprinkler controller, and closes reliably when the sprinkler controller removes power. It has standard 1/2" pipe threads and installs easily. It's worth noting that this valve does not have a way to manually activate it, but I can use the manual mode of the sprinkler controller for that. It's only been installed a few weeks, but so far it's running perfectly.
