I like to make chocolate chip cookies and various cheesecakes. This beater mixes more throughly, in a shorter time span, and I have to do very little scrapping between each egg addition when mixing. This saves me alot of time and prevents the dough / cheesecake from being overly beaten. I’ve been wanting a bowl scraping beater for years and this is the first one that WORKS! *by C***L on May 17, 2023* And boy, does it ever! I’ve bought and returned at least three other versions of a bowl scraping beater in the past 10 years because none of them worked. Some were clearly the wrong size despite my double checking the model of my KitchenAid mixer, and some just simply didn’t work for beans. I returned every single one and just about had given up. But BonAppétit.com published an article on April 22 entitled “No Stand Mixer Is Complete Without the BeaterBlade” and that led me to locate it here and order it. I did check my KitchenAid model number (a Professional 5 Plus-KV25GO) and when the beater arrived I eagerly tried it out. I did need to adjust the set screw just a smidge to lower the bowl. For some reason the manufacturer says not to try the beater out for size in an empty bowl. But my word, did it work beautifully with the cookie dough I tried. I’ve used it three times since I got it, and I didn’t need to scrape the bowl down once! I love my KitchenAid, and I bake a lot. I’ve been baking for more than 50 years and I’m thrilled to have found this. One thing to consider is that this version is made of metal with silicone “scrapers” and will be much sturdier than those versions where the beater part itself is made of plastic. I think I’ll be enjoying the freedom from scraping the bowl down for years to come. The white coated metal beater that came with the mixer when I bought it in 2005 had begun to lose bits of the coating a few years ago, and getting a new one from KitchenAid is comparably priced to this one.
