When I got them, they had a fairly rough look to them from where the cups were faced on a lathe. So, I wet sanded them down to give them a brushed look. After a bit of sanding, I noticed a copper color start to come out. That got me thinking these were actually nickel plated steel.After sanding two, I decided to leave one outside and the other inside. That same day, I took a third one from the pack and used my anger grinder to do a spark test. I compared the sparks with a piece of scrap 304 stainless steel threaded rod I had. The sparks were totally different. I had hoped otherwise, but these weren't stainless steel.After sitting outside for several days, the one left outside was starting to rust fairly well as can bee seen in the picture. That was that. Amazon won't let me return them. I'm giving these 2 stars because while they are strong magnets, that much I can't complain about, but they are not stainless steel and are useless for what I had intended for them.One interesting thing is that the screws sent along with the magnets are actually stainless steel. They only just barely stick to the magnets and can be shaken off easily. The screws are stainless, but the cups the magnets are set into are not.One last note, the diameter of the magnets I got are closer to 1.25" instead of the listed 1.3". They surprised me at first. I guess I was expecting something a little larger. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very nice! *by S***T on Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2017* Strong and easy to mount. I have some magnetic mounts to hold a security camera - i liked the mounts but their magnets weren't strong enough. I bought these magnets to stick those mounts to and it works great! Those things aren't going to be falling off any time soon.
