Review: Excellent Filler for Pink Foam Model Scenery - I was skeptical about this product and didn't know what to expect. After using it for a week, I am thoroughly impressed, and will use this rather than construction filler whenever possible. What I really like about this filler is that it is easy to use and effective in very small amounts to help create lifelike textures; and to fill areas between the foam pieces, and seams between layers. It is extremely lightweight and very white in color. It has the consistency similar to a frothy cake frosting. The filler material is very easy to work with small tools and especially with my fingers. I like to shape and spread it with a small trowel, and will even work it very thinly into my Southwest rock carvings with my fingers to soften some of my deeper carvings and make the cuts look slightly more weathered. It also works nicely to fill larger gaps and create transitions between foam pieces. It can easily be smoothed to a very flat finish, or can be broken up in slivers to look like shale, or can even have a very rough rock-like finish. The technique and care used to apply it makes all the difference. My favorite part about this filler is that it dries very hard [and reasonably quickly] and does not shrink. It holds all the detail beautifully; and is hard enough to resist handling and cracking. What you lay down, is what you get. It's very satisfying like that. It makes it easy to work in small sections. After it hardens, it can be carved, sanded or painted. The foam filler material is water-based and cleans up quickly. I should probably use gloves when I work with it, but I don't. It dries on my fingers like white glue. Overall, I really love this stuff. It is my new favorite Woodland Scenics product! Five stars.

It dries smooth, takes paint really well, and has minimal shrinkage during the drying process. The only places on our layout where seams show are the ones where I didn’t use the foam putty. One jar goes a long way and doesn’t dry out — it stays soft and workable all the way to the end of the tub as long as you keep the lid on tightly when not in use. It took me almost a year to go through my previous tub of foam putty, and the last glob was just as smooth as the first one.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What consistency does it cure to? Is it rubbery, or just like Styrofoam?**
A: Definitely not rubbery. Actually it cures pretty hard. I would say slightly harder than EPS or EPO styrofoam. But with lots of strength and very light weigh. I use it to make repairs on crashed remote control planes. It does a wonderful job.

**Q: I'm building a 7' tall tree w characters. This little container doesn't look like it'll go very far! Any suggestions for a large project?**
A: One container of foam putty goes a long way. I use it on my model railroad layout which is 4'x8'. Unless the whole project is made out of foam you won't have a problem.

**Q: will it adhere to painted foam as well as raw foam?**
A: Yes - I have only used in on top of latex based flat paints. You can also sand the paint off of the pink board pretty easily. So you are covered either way.

**Q: Will it melt properly if one were to use it to touch up foam for aluminum foundry projects?**
A: No. this is like a soft plaster.

I needed a foam putty to fill in areas on the surfboard wall art I make. This saves me TONS of time and is so easy to use. Makes my product smooth and beautiful, ready for paint.
