I used to do them in a toaster over, but this is so much easier, faster, and the cleanup much easier. The flavor is good, too. It is NOT a deep fryer, but what it does do, it does well (and I'm not pushing its capabilities. What would I change? Not a deal breaker, but the buttons are too hard to push. The clear plastic "flip cover" (don't know what to call it) on the handle comes off too easily, but it doesn't seem to be crucial.Most of the techniques for using it are covered in other reviews: learn how long items take (trial and error works fine), and if mixing items, stagger starting times for various items. Yes it does and it tastes better, at least my family of 5 thinks so. The first thing I did was large chicken thighs (it holds 5 bone in). I marinated the chicken in Ranch dressing for several hours in a large zipper storage bag in the refrigerator. Took it out, rolled the chicken in season bread crumbs, then into the air frier. It took almost an hour at 375. Which is longer than cooked in an oven but so much better. So so much more moist, flavorful, and Yes, crunchy but not as crunchy as fried foods but the taste is worth the extra time. To make sure it doesn't stick be sure and turn the chicken half way through. Everything I have cooked in it has turned out great so far. Even great for warming up what you cooked too!
