Product Description U-boat TYP VIIC/41 plastic model kit From the Manufacturer Starting mid-1943, 91 u-boots Type VII C/41 have been launched. By then, the conditions of the battle had totally changed. The "wolfpack tactic" seldom achieved positive results against better protected convoys, especially with the introduction of air umbrellas. With the aim of a better defense when surfaced, the Type VII C/41 u-boots were fitted with a modified, larger bridge called "large wintergarten (winter garden)" armed with two 20 mm flakzwillings and one automatic 37 mm M42U flakkanone, which are reproduced with precision in the kit. A swiveling snorkel mast for fresh air and fume exhaust, and four pressure boxes with 5-man floats were additional typical of these boats. The use of better steel sheets allowed the maximum depth to reach 250 meters.

Review: Good quality model - I purchased this to work on to relax. After scouring U-Boat.net I found out more information about the Type VIIC U Boat. I decided to build U-1004 because she sank tonnage and survived the war. The decals seemed to be too small in scale in relation to the boat, you can barely make them out on the sail. The hull fit together perfectly and the details were sharp and crisp. There were no real issues in assembling the model, but beware some of the parts for the guns are very small and can easily be lost if you should drop one.

I purchased this to work on to relax. After scouring U-Boat.net I found out more information about the Type VIIC U Boat. I decided to build U-1004 because she sank tonnage and survived the war. The decals seemed to be too small in scale in relation to the boat, you can barely make them out on the sail. The hull fit together perfectly and the details were sharp and crisp. There were no real issues in assembling the model, but beware some of the parts for the guns are very small and can easily be lost if you should drop one.

If you are looking for a superbly detailed U-boot model to grace your bookshelf or office without paying for an enormous 1/72 version that takes up too much space, this is the kit. Detailed decking, hull plating and conning tower and a stand you can assemble to display your model. Search online for Eduard 1/144 for Revell Type VII and there is a highly detailed photo-etched kit you can buy for about $20 to add detail such as vent covers, conning tower grab rails, bow/stern plates and gun details. This famous submarine version is a must for WW II ship model enthusiasts!!
