That's exactly the case here. We've had it about a week and it has been working fine in our small fish pond. Comes on when the sun goes down and stays on until the battery is depleted. I really do wish it was brighter though. If they had made the solar panel a tad bigger and given the battery extra capacity they could have gotten another watt or two out of it, which would have made a big difference. I would have gladly paid the extra few bucks. As it is, it really and truly is not very bright. Also, be aware that the color is "cool white."
