### ⭐ It's slow to heat
*by M***O on December 31, 2022*

It's simple to install and it works; it just doesn't work as efficiently as you would think it should. The water flow has to hit that sweet spot for it to heat the water continuously, otherwise it will stop heating.

### ⭐⭐ If I could return this I would, but I threw away the packaging during install.
*by D***E on May 28, 2017*

Update:After numerous complaints from the family about the TV not working whenever the kitchen sink is being used, I brought home an oscilloscope from work and looked at line voltage while this thing is running. It makes all sorts of line noise, all the way up to 10 MHz. (see photos) In my opinion this is a sign of a defect, since it is clearly in violation of FCC rules. I am attempting a return, stating that the device is defective, even though I do not have the original box. The ecosmart makes absolutely no noise on the line at all. The iHeat turns the heater on part way through every cycle, making lots of noise. The ecosmart turns the heater on only for full cycles, which doesn't make noise. The ecosmart controls temps by running the heater for a few cycles on then a few cycles off.Original review:I bought for the under the kitchen sink. It takes a long time for hot water to arrive from the central heater, so long that the dishwasher has a hard time ever getting hot water and doesn't quite perform well. About a year ago I switched from a 80 gallon tank to a centrally installed an Ecosmart 27kW tankless hot water heater. In the past I used to run a circulating pump to get hot water to the kitchen, but that doesn't work with a tankless heater. So I decided the solution was point of use heater in the kitchen to boost the incoming hot water up to 120F. The requirements were, less than 30A, temperature regulating (not just on/off), and 1/2 inch threaded fittings. Optionally I wanted to have an adjustable temperature setting instead of a factory set temperature. On paper this device checked every box, not just the requirements, but the optional temperature adjustment too. In reality, every single item is either a fail or a disappointment. There a numerous things about the design of this heater I don't like. Here is a list:1. The install manual makes clear that this device actually draws a max of 31 amps when connected to 240V. The manual also says you need #8 wiring, not #10. In my case that added $60 in wiring cost. Since the draw is over 30 amps, you'll also need a 35A breaker, except that...2. The install manual says in several places this device MUST be connected to a GFI breaker. GFI breakers aren't sold in 5A steps, so you need a 40A GFI breaker, as part of the install. These run about $100.3. The supplied power cord pigtail has white black and green conductors. I believe this is technically a violation of National Electric Code since you must connect a white wire to a hot wire. Doesn't impact performance, but it slowed things down cause the electrician didn't want to wire it up.4. The plumbing connections are "G1/2." Best I can tell this is an Asian plumbing standard. These look similar to 1/2 inch National Pipe Thread Tapered, but they aren't This requires special adapters ($15 each at amazon) to match anything you'll find at home depot.5. The inlet has a non-removable strainer built in. The result is flow is about 1/2 gallon per minute. So the sink is slow and basically dribbles out when the dishwasher is filling.6. It is slow to heat up. When the pipes are cold - first thing in the morning - it takes 20+ seconds of flow to reach the 120F set point. I can tell this since it has a little display which comes on as soon at it starts running and shows current output water temp. About 10 seconds after starting water flow, the temp will be climbing slowly, stabilizing at 120 about 10 seconds later.7. It forgets the temp setpoint if it loses power.8. Incredibly dirty power. When this thing is running all the LED lights in my house start flickering and the TV at the other end of the house starts losing signal from the cable box (connected by HDMI cable). Now, before any of you Electrical Engineers jump in with a discussion of triacs and such... the central hot water heater for my home is an ecosmart 27, which has 3x 40A breakers. I've had it for more than a year and it doesn't do this at all. My electrician tells me I need to get an EMI filter for the new heater, which will cost me more than purchase price of the heater.Seriously, I hate this thing. Technically it works, but it so frustrating. I recommend you stay away. Why did I give it two stars instead of one. Technically it does make hot water. So the minimal functionally is there. One star in my book means utter and complete garbage, with this thing is a couple steps above.
