Review: Excellent small, value sub - I bought this mini sub when I was living in my apartment because I’m a big movie person, but didn’t want to piss off the neighbors with a larger, true HT sub (plus I was on a tight budget), and was very pleasantly surprised. It’s only an 8” driver, so you can’t compare it to a 12” or bigger driver, that’s not realistic, but it’s fantastic for what it is. This thing rumbles and it has a nice tactile punch to it. I never turned the gain knob up past 5/10. I would absolutely recommend this sub for anyone with SPL (volume) limitations, neighbors, or financial limitations. At 8” it just physically can’t get down ultra low or provide the fullness a bigger driver can, but man does it try, and if you’ve never experienced anything bigger, you won’t be missing anything. I would be very interested to listen to the 10” version, the NS-SW100. Overall, I was thrilled with it for the size and price point at the time when I built my budget 5.1 system. It really is a fantastic little sub and I would absolutely purchase it again. If you have a bigger room or want a true HT sub, you’re gonna have to be realistic and go bigger and a lot more expensive. Otherwise, get this thing (or the 10” NS-SW100) and enjoy!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: does input mean aux**
A: There is one input port on this subwoofer, which is a (mono) female RCA input (not to be mis-seen as a 3.5mm aux input).

**Q: Anyone using it with yas-107/ats-1070 soundbar?**
A: I'm using mine with the ATS-1080 and works great with it.

**Q: Can this unit be left on when not in use, that is does it have a power save mode?**
A: Does not have power save mode and the on/off switch is in the back of the subwoofer which is not convenient since it's in a lower cabinet. I connected the subwoofer to a surge protector. However, I added a smart plug to one of the outlets of the surge protector and then connected the subwoofer to the smart plug. I leave the SW in "ON" position with the volume at the position (about half way) that best works with my listening room. I then use the phone app of my smart plug to turn the speaker on/off as needed without having to go to the back of SW each time. Very convenient, just have to remember to turn on the speaker before using my home theatre system. The speaker is very good and provides enough base for my 16' x 16' room and at the same time fits in my designated cabinet.

**Q: Yamaha ats-1030 can this subwoofer be hooked up with a sound bar with dual built-in subwoofers**
A: Hi..I used the sub with my older ats 1010 with no problems..you will need to input commands to your 1030 to tell it to use the external sub and not the internal subs..both can't work at the same time..see the manual's instructions.

Killer Sub, base fills my small living room and shakes everything in it! But its clear and crisp base with no feedback or rattling. High quality. I am a big fan of Yamaha products and this only made me more of one.
