## Description

Geekworm DACPi is a desktop ultra-thin DAC kit based on the latest raspberry pi 4; We know that there are many DAC expansion boards released on the market, but they have a common shortcoming that they are too thick. We redesigned the DAC expansion board (X950) and tried our best to make this DAC the thinnest and matched a NUC style aluminum alloy shell, the final thickness of DACPi is only 31mm, I hope you can like it. DACPi adopts modular design, it composed of three parts: X950 DAC Shield, cooling system (P165-B embedded heatsink), and a NUC style aluminum case;Just simply assemble them with the Raspberry Pi 4 motherboard. X950 shield can turn your Raspberry pi 4 into a ready-to-play High Resolution Network Music Player. The shell is made of all aluminum alloy, CNC processing method, surface anodizing treatment. For the cooling solution, considering that the cooling fan will interfere with the sound quality, we abandoned the X823-A3 active cooling solution in NASPi, and we only use P165-B to dissipate heat, which can provide enough heat dissipation if there is no overclocking, but P165-B may be a slight impact on WIFI. You can remove the heatsink also.

Review: Good little box at a good price - This is a good product at a good price. The case is well made and the installation is straightforward, with a helpful video on the desertcart product page. It fits together well and the ports look and feel very satisfactory. The digital-to-analogue (DAC) converter also works well. I used this DAC+case to run PiCorePlayer, which requires an 'Audio output device' selection from a list of about 40 options. I found that 'IQaudIO DAC' worked ok, but that 'RPiDAC' did not. I did not try any others. In summary, it looks professional and works well, and all for a good price.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this work with ropiee?**
A: Hi, thanks
Sorry we don't test DACPi on ropiee, but DACPi use the same DAC IC PCM5122 with IQAUDIO DAC+, so you can refer to some introduction of IQAUDIO DAC+.

We will test it on ropiee later, please pay attention to our wiki introduction.

**Q: Can I install a slim 30mm fan on the P165 heatsink to assist in cooling?**
A: Hi dear friend,
1. It is not recommend to use cooling fan with the DAC product, it may generate the noise which affect the sound qulity.
2. There is no place to plug in the cooling fan. How do you use the cooling fan?
3. The DACPi case is a ultra-thin case, and the P165-b heatsink is enough for the heat dissipation.
Hope to get your understanding.
best regards,
Geekworm Team

**Q: Tips to get working w/ piCorePlayer 8.2.0 64-bit? I found a tip to pick "RPi DAC (last choice)" for 8.1.0, but still no audio on 8.2.0.**
A: My Pi 4 is set to use the IQaudIODAC driver, and it works fine with this soundcard.

**Q: Someone with fine listening skills (like a sound engineer) who has compared the sound reproduction of this device with an iPod Classic 7th Gen?**
A: Thanks.
DACPi use TI PCM5122 IC. Sorry, we don't compare it with iPod.

*by F***K on 10 November 2022*
