I'm not sure how anyone could mount it to a crank up mast. In my opinion it works as well as the old bat wing style antenna. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ King Omni RV antenna *by J***S on December 10, 2023* Installed on class A motor home myself. Very good reception and was an excellent replacement for the 23 yo batwing. Recommend a few installation tips.If you are going to drill a new hole in the roof, use a 1/4” drill at least 10” long. ( Be sure to measure well your location both inside and outside before drilling.) After drilling the 1/4” hole all the way through to the inside. ( Check now that you have clearances for the sensor base. If you made a mistake, you’ve only got a 1/4” hole to plug.) Take your hole-saw and place it on the ceiling into the hole and mark around the saw. Take a razor knife and cut out the marked hole so when drilling from the inside you won’t snag the fabric or whatever you don’t want to tear up on the ceiling. Carefully use the hole-saw on the roof. Drill just enough to get the roof wood cut through. Stop an look for any wires. ( Move any out of the way.). Now you can complete the large hole from the inside. The rest of the installation in in the instructions.Have fun. Take your time. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great replacement for my old Wineguard crank up *by J***T on August 30, 2023* On our first camping trip in our new-to-us motorhome, we noticed that the old TV antenna leaked around it's crank when it rained, which was especially bad because the crank was directly above my wife's seat! On our way home we hit a wind gust and then heard a lot of rattling around up on the roof. After stopping and making a hot climb up on the roof I discovered the old antenna and mount hanging on by only a very rotted out antenna wire. I cut it loose and drove home. Next day I ordered this antenna and a mounting plate to (as I told my wife) "fix the leak." Nice to say the leak is fixed and our new TV now gets a good signal. The only thing I did wrong with the install was to not test the antenna install "dry" before sealing it down with lap seal. Due to a poor antenna connector, it was totally dead on the first try, causing me to remove it (a sticky mess) and fix the wire. On the second try everything worked well. Perhaps we can give a real test on our next trip. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional antenna. *by R***K on October 20, 2019* I can not express how pleased I am with this antenna!!!! Story: Just bought a camper in February. Brand New. It had come with a omni-directional TV/AM/FM antenna. It was sort of a mushroom shaped affair that would only receive about three TV channels in a major metropolitan city where I know there were dozens more. The radio reception was worse. I did my research and looked at countless reviews before buying this antenna. It seemed to be the highest rated antenna of it's type out there. Arrived in perfect shape with everything that was supposed to be included. My installation was different from others in that I was not retro fitting an old raise/swivel type antenna, so treated it as a new install. When I started removing the previous antenna, I noticed that the manufacturer did a really bad job with the RG-6 connectors. Loose connections, stingers (center conductor) WAY too long, kinked cables etc. So I thought I would attempt to clean up the bad install first and give the original antenna a second chance. No luck there. It was just as bad as before! Out came the old antenna and in went this one. The instructions are excellent and I had the new one up and running in about two hours total. I immediately got 65 (count 'em) 65 channels!!! When I fine tuned the directional knob a little, I got 67. Of course I Dicor 'ed the new unit very well. I also installed a separate radio antenna and that works well too. Forgot to mention that I did everything I could to make sure my receiving equipment wasn't the problem. If fact, the radio worked better with a coat hanger in it than it did with the original antenna, and the TV got about ten channels holding an inexpensive indoor antenna out the window of the camper. I am SO pleased with this antenna.
