It has a dull blade that is able to sever the adductor muscle just fine (without putting you in danger) and a perfect point that will not easily jab you but easily cuts into the hinge joint. I used to use a screwdriver to pry them open and then switch to a clam knife. Now I can open these delicious umami bombs in one go. The thickness is perfect allowing you to twist and pry the oyster with confidence. I have already shucked many dozens of oysters and I see no fear in it bending. The tip can also be used to side swipe tear into the lip if the hinge is awkward from and oddly grown oyster. Just like it boasts, the handle is still grippy when wet. I waiting too long to get the right tool for the job. Never looking back. I'm so satisfied that I will buy another for my camping gear, too.

Living on Long Island, home of the Blue Point Oysters, this knife shucks them like a champ. I always make sure to buy Dexter brand for oyster knives and this one didn't disappoint. It's the same one the chefs used when I worked in restaurants and it's perfect. Nice and sturdy, comfortable handle, and the perfect blade shape, sharpness, and thickness. I'd say I'm going to buy more but my last one lasted for probably a decade, so... It might be a while. All in all, 100% worth buying.
