Y funcionalidad Review: This is my first radio scanner and after a bit of homework I do find it easy to use. I found it useful to do some research on the limitations of the scanner but once I got used to them it is a really neat scanner with good reception. I am able to pick up marine traffic when sited near the coast, I haven't tried it near an airport yet, that's next on the list. I live in a high crime and would like to listen in to the chatter for pure entertainment purposes** A: In 2018, most likely NO. This is an analog scanner. Most police and rescue are using digital systems these days. This isn't the fault of the scanner; you need to buy a digital scanner to hear police and rescue traffic in your area. This is the case in most of the USA in 2018. **Q: If i have a ham radio do i need this. i can not pick up any police traffic in san antonio with my hams. i am looking for a receiver that can scan** A: San Antonio Police and Fire are on 900 Mhz Digital. An Analog scanner will not work. Any VHF or UHF Ham radio digital or otherwise will not work because most digital ham radios use different digital formats, such as D-Star for one, and are not compatible. Also Police and Fire transmissions are code encrypted. You would need a digital scanner with appropriate formats and the appropriate codes to make it work. I am an Extra Class Ham also with an FCC Commercial License just to qualify my answer. **Q: Is it easy to set up? do you need a computer to set it up? is it better than uniden scanner?** A: I bought this for my husband, and we live in the Charlotte area, and he was reading on it and it was easy to set up, but there's something missing tinder it up for the Charlotte area, so we're probably going to return it!
