It’s to make a Japanese rice cake called mochi, or to make sekihan. Sekihan is a red sticky rice made with aduki beans. The beans make the rice reddish. **Q: Can this rice be used to make mochi?** A: I bought this rice to make Mochi Cakes, but used it up before I got around to making the cakes. The rice is sticky and very dense, which would lend its self very well to Mochi Cakes. The directions for this rice are very easy. It is not Japanese, but Thailand Glutenous Sticky Rice. I would not be able to tell the difference, although some people say you should use the Japanese version. It's a very good quality rice, but I will look for a better price with another brand for my next purchase. The jar is small.
