The project was only about an hour so I can't really comment on the battery charge duration other than the indicator still shows it at full charge. Speaking of distances, it throws light quite far. I don't know how bright it actually is as lumens go, but I know it's brighter than my usual headlamp which is 350 lumens. I think this could be a great light for hunters, search and rescue teams, and spelunking. However, you need to keep in mind that it's quite large and relatively heavy compared to my usual headlamp.
