Upon entering the attic to perform the work, I discovered that it was almost impossible for me to get to the area from above. Agonized, I did some research and found this item which made my job oh so easy! I turned off the power, removed the switch and then removed its wires and wire utter them together, thereby making the light wires “always on”. After that, I turned the power back off, removed the light fixture from the ceiling and, following directions, installed the “receiver” device between that hot wire and the light fixture. The receiver is small and I merely pushed it alongside the mounting box so it’s setting on top of the drywall ceiling. Then I reinstalled the light fixture and turned the power back on. Now, this is where I was weary that this high priced unit wasn’t really going to work but I grabbed the switch, which can be located anywhere since it isn’t connected to the light by wire, and clicked the switch. The light came on instantly! The switch has no wires and produces its own power so it doesn’t even have batteries. I LOVED that feature as I didn’t want to be replacing batteries every so often. I then mounted the switch precisely where I wanted it on the other side of the room and, voila!, the retiring was done. I know the cost of this item is high and I may have found cheaper ones had I done more research but this got very good reviews and I was crunched for time so I took the plunge. Now, being experienced in how it’s installed and how it works, I will have NO hesitation buying this again if I need to move/retire a switch. Great product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Saved me a lot of time! *by D***. on May 22, 2020* I spent a large portion of a day trying to move a light switch to the other side of the door, crawling up through my small attic several times, only to conclude that it was not be reasonably possible due to the configuration of my house. I had to return everything to its original condition. I went online and found this Illumra product. It is a little pricey, but it was WELL worth the money for me. Once I received the wireless switch, it took me 15-20 minutes to complete the installation. I wired the remote module into the existing light switch box and used the flush installation since I already had a hole prepared on the other side of the door. Easy and effective. It works great and I am VERY pleased. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great, easy to install, price is high. *by K***8 on January 15, 2016* Works great, easy to install. Two things I want to mention. The rocker switch isn't like your standard rocker that is either on or off, (up or down). When you press the button it returns to the original position and the click feels a little different. No big deal but something worth mentioning.The nice thing is that the rocker requires no external power source and is already paired to the receiver.Installing the receiver was no problem either.1. Make sure you kill the power at the breaker and check voltage before working on anything.2. Stick the receiver up in the ceiling and the wires through the knock out plate of the box in the ceiling.3. If any wires are already tied to the light fixture take them down except for the ground.4. Tie all three white wires together with a wire nut.5. Tie the black wire from the receiver to the black wire from the panel box with another wire nut.6. Tie the black wire from the light fixture to the red wire of the receiver with a third wire nut.7. Don't forget to turn power back on and test your light switch!Instillation is complete.With the switch I was able to install on an empty blue box that was already on the wall like a standard light switch and cover plate however the kit comes with a plate that you can mount to the wall and install the switch on. Only problem is that set up will cause the switch to stick out about a quarter inch.TL;DR: 4 Stars because price is so high, but it beats the hell out of having to run a new wire and box through the wall. Easy to install.
