It's not "odor proof", I would call it odor resistant. Best to keep really smelly stuff in a separate bag inside of this - that's where this product is magic. It contains anything that leaks out of the inner bag VERY well. If you have something just slightly smelly, it works pretty good on its own, but not completely odor proof. There is a very tiny 1-2 mm end gap in the zipper when fully closed and these types of zippers won't completely seal. Seems to be well made with strong outside fabric. There's a decent amount of charcoal in the lining. The side walls are fairly thick. It does absorb most of the odor - at least while new. I suspect the charcoal will need a recharge after awhile. It will eventually become saturated. I'll probably just prop it open and set it out in direct sunlight for a day. That should refresh the charcoal. For the price, GREAT product! I go along with the other 5 star reviews as long as the zipper holds up. That's the weak point because ALL zippers wear out. If it can't make it at least 2 years, I'll be back to reclaim a star. As long as you don't think this will provide airtight protection, you'll like this product. Take a hair dryer and turn it to low heat to dry the inside and outside of your product thoroughly by doing a paintbrush motion. The heat passing through the charcoal fabric will reactivate the charcoal lining in about 5 minutes. This will cleanse out the pores of the carbon layer, reactivating its efficiency to 90%. **Q: Can you wash it?** A: Getting the activated carbon fiber lining wet will cause the carbon to clump and be useless. Take special care to not allow the inside of the bag to get wet.
