The enginnered mesh is formed from a 4-way Stretch Metatarsal Panels that offers the wearer a more individualized fit. I do that with all newton shoes. If you've never tried them before, they will definitely take some getting used to, but i am a believer. They have improved my form, and I'd swear they make me run faster. I would NOT recommend them for anyone who doesn't intend to run in them. The lug on the bottom makes walking in them a bit strange. Newton is now my go-to running shoe. I would recommend ordering a half size up. I believe the sizing chart explains this. I think Newtons tend to run small.
