We had a voltage drop of ~6V across the pump and ~3V across the LED.We tried a variety of batteries and configurations to demonstrate voltage and amperage, from 9V to a 6V lantern battery. I think we ultimately went with two 9V in parallel plus a pair of D cells in series to give 12 V for each pump/LED circuit. Fun project, my daughter gave it to a friend for her 12th birthday. We failed one LED (shorted), we left out the current limiting resistor thinking the motor would help, but I suppose it has an inrush.
